Welcome to Rune2.net! The purpose of this site is to help bring about the creation of a Rune 2 through generating interest, gathering support, and getting a publisher’s attention. We have already started this process with the official petition with which we have already gained more than 4,000 signatures. We believe that the first Rune was a great game with original game play that is unparalleled to this day. Our goal is to generate interest in both players and publishers to gain support for the creation of a sequel.

Rune 7th Anniversary Contest and more

Hello all! I am sorry I haven't had a chance to update this site for a little while; I have been extremely busy with "real-life". A lot has been going on, and as I am sure you've seen Human Head Studios (the developers behind Rune) are sponsoring an official 7th Anniversary contest! There are several categories in which you can enter: Maps, Fan fiction, and Art. Each of the three categories will award a prize to the top five in each category. We will be accepting submissions until May 1st at which point the community will be able to vote on their favorites in each category. I encourage you to head over to Runeiverse.com and check out some of the great maps and fan-fiction already submitted. In other news, I have all of the files from the old Rune-Resource.de - and I will be hosting them and creating a new community site on the Runeiverse.com domain following the completion of the contest. Any volunteers to help with that are welcome. Finally I want to apologize - I have run into a bug with the forums for this site, and can't login! The only workaround I found no longer works for me because I had to lock the guest are due to excessive spam. I will be re-doing this site and merging it with the new Runeiverse.com site I am working on. I'll do my best to preserve all of the user accounts and posts on the current forums. At the very least I'll make sure to document all of the Rune 2 suggestions thread if there isn't a way to cleanly migrate the data. 'Rune 2' Concept art released!

That's Right - Actual news about a Rune 2! I have been sitting on this since Tuesday (6/26) and I am thrilled to finally be able to share this with you!

Though there is no offcial announcement of a 'Rune 2', this is an exciting and encouraging step for Rune fans.

I received 4 concept art images directly provided by Human Head Studios to share with the community.

Here is the official word from Artist / Co-Founder - Ted Halsted:

"We are actively considering developing another game in the Rune Universe, but we don't want to create the impression that an announcement is right around the corner. However, we thought that Rune gamers might enjoy some of this work, and we want people to know that Rune is very close to our hearts, and that we very much appreciate the support that Rune players have given us."

In other news, poll 6 results were not worth posting about - at the time of this writing we had one vote for 'worry about it for the redesign'. - will do - nuff said. Hopefully you will all find this months poll a lot more interesting.

And thank you all for your support - the Create Rune 2 Petition has hit over 4,000 signatures. If that doesn't show there is still interest in a 7 year old game - well then, at least it shows it still has a strong and supportive fanbase. Good job - keep up the good work!

Poll 5 Results and other updates

I have decided it is high time to close down this poll and give you guys an update!

It looks like the jumpsipin lamurs have it at 67% - but does that just mean that all the jumpspin lamurs have scared off the other players? I am divided on the issue, but in the end I would surmise that the best solution lie someplace in the middle in the form of an optional mutator.

Also I should mention that I have a site update in the works as well as possibly another little surprise along the way. I apologize for the goofy forums recently, and want to make fixing that my main focus - however it may end up that current forum data will be lost and you'll have to re-register.
Also - I have a full site-redesign planned that I want to start working on so I have something better to roll out if/when Rune 2 is announced. I am looking for any volunteers that might want to lend a hand with that.

Please leave a comment in the comments section or post on the forums if you have any other suggestions or would like me to link your site in my links section.

On a final note, there has been some annoying issues with spam posts in the visitor's log - if it becomes worse I may have to restrict posting rights to registered users only. However the visitors log login trick is the only way I know to workaround the currently defunct forums so I am hesitant to take that away just yet or until I get a fix.
